| Abstract: | Synaesthesia is not only a physiological phenomenon, but a psychological one. It is also a special kind of figures of speech, and an artistic style. Good synaesthesia in poetry tends to give rise to a strong artistic effect on the readers. The functions of synaesthesia in Chinese and English poetry are expounded by means of the approach of parallel study. |
