徐树铮与第二次南北战争

第二次南北战争是段琪瑞政府推行武力统一政策的结果，徐树铮的政治观与该政策一致。在段祺瑞的支持下，徐树铮积极布置对南作战计划，他拉拢曹锟、张作霖、吴佩孚等实力派人物来支持武力统一政策，操控着第二次南北战争，使得第二次南北战争得以持续进行。但最终因徐树铮本人恃才傲物、坦白率直的性格等原因导致皖系内部发生分裂，以及在处理张敬尧督湘，支持曹锟、张作霖当副总统，联络昊佩孚等有关重大问题上操控失当，导致第二次南北战争以失败告终。

The Role of XU Shu-zheng in the Second Civil War in 1917

The Second Civil War in 1917 was the consequence of the unification by military power policy carried out by Duma Qirui＇s government, and the policy was consistent with Xu Shuzheng＇s political ideas. With Duan＇s support, Xu planned the war toward the south of China actively. By achieving the support from Cao Kun, Zhang Zuolin, Wu Peifu, XU manipulated the process of the War. But in the end of the war they were defeated, because of the division in Wan （ Anhui Province） Faction caused by Xu＇s arrogant and frank characteristics, and his improper operation in dealing with some important issues, such as Zhang Jing＇s ruling Hunan province, supporting Cao Kun and Zhang Zuolin to be vice-presidents of the country, and connecting Wu Peifu.
