论《藻海无边》中的人物与象征

摘    要:《简爱》自1847前出版以来,关于如何解读这部小说的讨论与尝试一直没有间断.其中就包括加勒比女作家简·里斯于1966年出版的小说《藻海无边》.在对《简爱》的改写中,简·里斯把目光投向原作中阁楼上的疯女人,由此引发了20世纪70年代一场著名的争论.在本文中,作者从女性主义理论和后殖民主义理论的角度,对比分析《藻海无边》与原著《简爱》,进而探讨《藻海无边》中的主要人物与象征.

Abstract:This socalled "foundational text" has offered a rich resource for different interpretations since Jane Rhys' publi cation in 1847. Among them is its rewriting, Wide Sargasso Sea (1966), which focused on the mad woman in the attic from the original novel and even triggered a wellknown debate in the 1970s. In this essay, analysis of main characters and images of Wide Sargasso Sea is made. A comparison to Jane Eyre is considered necessary. Feminist theory and postcolo nial theory are adopted here.
