Reexamine the Strategic Role and Function of SEZs

Proceeding from the mission of China's special economic zones when theywere first set up, the role they have played in the past 16 years and the requirement onthe SEZ's by the all-round opening and reform, the essay expounds the strategic position and function of SEZ's in the new situation. The author deems that the SEZ's havenot yet fulfilled their tasks and, therefore, should remain "special" and continue to playtheir due roles as experimenter, exemplar, radiator, linker and promotor, with a view torealiaing the grand aim of common prosperity.
