Eudora Welty's short story The Winds addresses the issue of marginalization by focusing on the helplessness and hopelessness of a marginalized young girl and signifies the innocence and the psychological load of the marginalized.Besides,the storm in the story symbolizes the potential destructive power of this social evil.The present paper analyzes the theme and the structure of The Winds from the perspective of narrative focus and points out that the author's choice of and switching between two narrating foci not only helps to build on the theme,but also results in the natural paralleling structure of the story and blends the two into a harmony.
