Geographical Environment:A Basis of Sustainable Development for Human Beings

An analysis is made of the concept,functions and importance of geoeraphical environment.It is argued that geographical environment is the basis for human survival and the prerequisite to sustainable development.Importance should be attached to the protection of geographical environment in the development of China's northwestern region.This development should be subject to the bearing capability of the geographical environment.The strategy of sustainable development should be carried out to promote the coordinated development between natural environment,economic growth and social progress.
