| Abstract: | Professor Xu Yuanchong put forward a well-known proposition in his translation studies, i.e. rivalry between the source language and the target language with the latter dominating the former. This view caused controversies in translation circles. This essay, from the angle of Hermeneutics, explores Professor Xu's proposition, and concludes that Hermeneutics should be regarded as the highest target in literary translation. |
