| Abstract: | The pharmacodynamics of the herb preparation" Qu Tan Ke Chuan Ping" (QTKCP) was sdudied by comparison of mice and rats treated with and without QTKCP respectively. The data showed that the treatment with QTKCP increased the amount of phenol red breathed out from trachea of mice and the expectoration of rats. The medication restrained cough when mice were exposed to the concentrated ammonia solution, QTKCP lengthened the incubation period of cough when guinea pigs were given chloro - aceto-choline and phosphohistamine. The result suggests that QTKCP as an expectorant can reatrain cough, calm down asthma and make expectoration easy. |
