The Double-layered Themes of Some of Robert Frost's Narrative Poems

One thematic concern of many of Robert Frost's narrative poems is the relation between female desire and poetry writing.These narrative poems not only reflect Frost's unique conception of female and female desire,but also on a metaphorical level embody Frost's "a poetics of balance".To Frost,a balanced poetics is the one which integrates female creativity and male reason.By adopting narrative irony and employing metaphor,Frost penetrates the double layer of meaning in his narrative poems,that is,his conception on the issue of female sexuality and his exploration of "a poetics of balance" based on that conception.
