蒋廷黻与中国近代史研究二题

蒋廷黻认为近代史是全世界的欧化史，中国近代史就是中华民族近代化的历史，也即是中华民族接受欧洲文化的历史。由此出发，他以中西关系为中心，以近代化为主线来建构他的中国近代史话语。蒋氏对中国近代史的理解有很强的西方思想背景，特别是马士对他影响很大。蒋氏的中国近代史研究又是中国特定的社会政治背景和文化环境的产物。1930年代中国所面临的民族危机及《独立评论》的政治取向是蒋氏言说中国近代史的具体语境。蒋氏希望他的中国近代史研究能为当时的抗战建国作贡献，他所写的中国近代史可以说是一种政治性的历史。

Two Issues Concerning Ting-fu Jiang' s Study of Modern History of China

T.F.Jiang, who based his study of the modern history of China on international relations and modernization, held that modern hist o ry is the history of Europeanization of the world and the modern history of Chin a is the history of modernization of China or, in other words, the history of ac cepting European civilization. He was greatly influenced by western thinkers and scholars, especially Hosea Ballou Morse. What's more, T.F.Jiang's study of mod ern history of China is the product of a special social and political situation. The crisis of China in the 1930s and the political trend of the Independe nt Rev iew are the specific context of his study. Jiang hoped that his study co uld make so me contribution to the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. The Histor y of Modern China he wrote is somewhat a political history.
