Attitudes in The Bluest Eye:an appraisal perspective

Toni Morrison whose works draw great attention is the first black woman to win Nobel Prize for Literature. In 1970,Toni Morrison published her first novel The Bluest Eye.After that,she opens up the road to novel creation. This thesis analyses the novel on the lexical level from the perspective of attitude system which is the subsystem of appraisal theory.It hopes that it can show image,behaviors,characters and inner world of Pecola and reveal her un-fortunate experience.More importantly,it provides a new perspective to interpret the figure and the novel.
