红皇后演化在研究组织过程中把某一特定环境下的组织群体当作一个整体，通过研究他们之间的相互关系来研究企业生存能力，提出了竞争对于组织生存的重要意义。该理论强调了低碳经济下带来的新竞争逻辑对企业竞争力和企业生存的挑战——适应原先竞争逻辑企业在新的竞争逻辑下，其原有竞争能力可能反而会大幅降低企业生存力。而整个企业群如果不适应新的竞争逻辑即落入竞争陷阱。虽然短时间不会被淘汰，但面对外来组织冲击，会有陷入群体危机的可能。
