| Abstract: | YU Shang-yuan was one of the founders of Chinese modern drama. He devoted all his life to the introduction and research of western drama, during which he connected his drama research closely with the reality of Chinese drama movement, attaching importance to its contemporary features, making an attempt to methods for comparing dramas, bringing attention to its integral research, emphasizing drama's national features, and all of the above formed his characteristics of research during his early period, which is still valuable for reference. |
