“同归而殊途 一致而百虑”——郭秉文与林文庆办学理念之比较

摘    要:从教育理念的来源、内涵、治校方略及其成效四方面来探析郭秉文与林文庆的办学理念,二者虽然留学国别、所学专业不同,但均深受西方高等教育和中国文化的影响,办学理念颇有契合之处。其核心内涵,一为传统的"大学之道";二是"和平"、"平等"的文化观。在办学方针与宗旨上,郭秉文的"四个平衡"办学方针与林文庆的十项《校旨》精神内涵基本一致。在学科建设中,二者以综合大学为目标,但在基础学科与应用学科发展上有所偏重。在管理模式上,均实行董事会制,但有国立大学与私立大学职权之分。两位校长成功的办学实践,印证了"天下同归而殊途,一致而百虑"这一古老的真理。
