Aesthetic Interpretation of Rhetorical Imagery in English Poetry

The paper probes into the features of poetical language in respect of expression of poetic imagery.By analysing such works as The Villain,The Dreams and Fire and Ice,it introduces the rhetorical means used in the portrayal of rhetorical images,including metaphor and symbolism,and it illustrates their importance.Furthermore,it puts forward that the best way for the readers to appreciate poetry is to understand the concrete and the abstract as a whole,which is analysed by the examples of In a Station of the Metro by Ezra Pound and a sonnet by William Shakespeare.
