| Abstract: | This article gives a systematic and scientific explanation of the definitions of" Minzu" through an analysis of the definitions of "Minzu" offered by Chinese scholars since 1949 and Western scholars, the different translations of"Minzu", and the four aspects of national identification in China in the 1950s. |
