| 摘 要： | 《霍华德庄园》(Howards End,1910)是英国著名小说家E.M.福斯特的代表作,福斯特以其深刻的社会良知和清醒的理智在小说中率先关注英国人“发育不良的心”这一主题。福斯特在小说中不断地将“发育不良的心”的英国人形象置于不同的“文化语境”(the field of cu lture)中,这种福斯特式的“联结”其本质上是一种资产阶级自由主义和人道主义者对工业文明带来的种种不“和谐”进行补救的方法。

| Abstract: | Edward Morgan Forster(1879-1970),a twentieth century English novelist,literary theorist,and(essayist),has been ranked among the greatest novelists.Howard's Estateis one of his works.Starting from his social conscience and sober mind,Forster,created the criticism on the "undergrown hearts" of the English people in his novels prior to his predecessors.The paper believes that Forster put "undergrown hearts" of the English people into the different fields of culture,and more interprets the connection that has changed "logic",and holds that the connection is a method of remedy for disharmony that the bourgeois humanitarians brought about in the industrial civilization. |
