| Abstract: | Some Buyi villages in Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture have been preserving their primitive common law due to special geographical settings and historical background.Longquan Village This paper studies how Longquan Village in Huishui County uses the common law in settling conflicts in marriage when the state law and the local folk practice of marriage coexist.It is shown that there are some discrepancies between the common law and the state law as far as marriage and divorce are concerned. |
