On the Importance of the Social Work in the Care and Service for the Elderly

The eventual increase of the number of elderly people, particularly very old people, has made care for the elderly a big problem concerning the elderly individuals, their families and the society. Nevertheless, the changing and increasing needs of the elderly provides an arena for the social work profession to exert its potentiality and capacity. The social work profession thus, with its unique nature and intrinsic value perspectives, offers us its irreplaceable solution to meet the needs for care of the elderly. This article, by systematically analyzing its unique importance in care for the elderly, states that, social work, as the helping profession, has presented us a constructive way to solve the problem of care for the elderly.
