| Abstract: | The variable-r method is applied to data from the 1953, 1964, and 1982 censuses of China to produce life tables for 1953-1964 and 1964-1982. The tables are used to discuss a selection of mortality indicators, including infant mortality, age-specific mortality, and life expectancy by sex. |
