晚清文学的繁荣是晚清士人在科举之途堵塞之后的一种创造。在晚清士人走向文学活动的路途中充满了种种社会的、心理的复杂动因。东南沿海口岸城市开放的文化氛围、发达的工商业经济培育了最早的文学读者,也为穷途末路的晚清士人提供了以文学活动谋生的职业机会。因此,考察晚清士人生态的变化,对于把握晚清文学活动的主流、了解文学生产的规律有直接的意义。

The Living Conditions of Intellectuals in the Late Qing Dynasty and Their Literary Activities

In the late Qing Dynasty, the prosperity of the literature is the intellectuals' creation after their way up to pubic office by exam was blocked. Multiple causes of psychological or sociological abound on their way leading to literary activities. The open cultural atmosphere in trade ports of southeast China and the developing industrial and commercial economics created the earliest literature readers ,and it also provided career opportunities of making a living by literary activities for the intellectuals who have gone out of their way. Therefore, to ensure the Mainstream literary activities, and to find out the pattern of literary production in the late Qing dynasty, investigating the changes of the intellectuals' living conditions is meaningful.
