西方现代主义文学与基督教文化传统

尽管西方现代主义文学是以其反基督教文化为其基本思想倾向和特征的,但基督教文化传统并未从西方现代主义文学中消失或引退,它反倒作为一种沉重的背景影响和制约着现代主义文学的形成和发展,决定着现代主义文学的某些基本特征,并作为一种挥之不去的情结不时地回荡在现代主义作家的内心深处,最后又必然体现在他们的创作中.从基督教的面向上帝很容易走向现代主义文学的面对内心,因为二十世纪的西方人在失去了上帝之后,更容易关注、聆听和相信自己内心的声音.西方现代主义作家经常表现的主题之一是异化,但是,现代主义作家的异化观与马克思的异化理论却没有多少相同之处,反倒同基督教思想颇为接近.

Western Modernistic Literature and Christian Culture

Although anti-Christian culture characterizes the ideological trend and feature of Western modernistic culture, the traditions of Christian culture have never disappeared or withdrawn from Western modernistic literature. On the contrary, they have become a significant background which influences and restricts the formation and development of modernistic literature, determining some of the basic features of Western modernistic literature and reverberating constantly in the innermost hearts of modernistic writers as a lingering complex.
