Tenor Research in Five-Character Poetry of Han Literatus

Tenor refers to the relationship between the characters involved in the communicative activities, including social sta- tus of the participants in the discourse and the role relationship between them. The participants in Five-character Poetry of Hart literatus are relatively simple, who are mainly wandering grizzled troubadour and lonely and love-sick wives at home. As for the social status of the participants, the Poetry reflects the middle and lower status of the literatus and the subordinate positions of women at that time. The role relationships involved are the relationships between husband and wife, friends, monarch and his subjects, scholars and the nobihty and gentry, and the relationship between the author and his readers.
