An Interpretation of Conrad''''s The Heart of Darkness

The Heart of Darkness is one of Conrad's important novels. This article anlyzes the novel from the perspective of post-colonialism. In the novel, Conrad exposes the crimes the colonialists have don to the African people. They conduct material plunder, spiritual oppression and cultural subversion to the African people. Meanwhile, the process of colonization is also a process of destroying human qualities. Conrad approves the good nature of the African people. The cultural conflict reflected in the novel is incompatible, while cultural difference and cultural diversity are advocated in the post-colonialist study.
