科学认识当代社会主义的历史曲折

20世纪后期,以苏联、东欧的失败为标志,当代社会主义经历了极为严重的曲折。但曲折绝不等于结局,资本主义取代封建主义也曾经历长期曲折,资本主义继续发展是因为社会主义的压力而从被迫到主动地进行适应生产力发展的成功调整,社会主义出现严重曲折的根本症结是在长时期内未能把发展生产力作为压倒一切的根本性任务。社会主义要在曲折中继续发展,就必须牢记教训,正视来自资本主义的挑战:跟紧知识经济时代步伐,实施科教兴国战略;汇入全球化潮流,抓住“后发优势”机遇;坚持和平外交政策,反对“西化”“分化”图谋。

Putting the Historical Twists and Turns of Contemporary Socialism in the Scientific Perspective

In the late 20th century, contemporary world socialism experienced serious twists and turns, whose symbol was the failure of former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. However, the twists and turns do not necessarily mean ending. This is an irreversible general trend of the historical development of society that socialism is bound to supersede capatalism. By summing up both the internal and external historical experience, we can see the most important cause for the twists and turns of socialism was that developing the productive forces failed to be an overriding task in those countries for a long period. So, we must bear firmly in mind the lessons of history and have the courage to face up the challenge from capitalism; keep abreast with the times of knowledge economy and implement the strategy of invigorating China through science and education; join in the trend of globalization and seize new opportunties; and adhere to an independent foreign policy of peace and oppose the schemes such as Westernization and disintegration .
