WT5HZ]Abstract Indeterminacy is the principal pragmatic feature of hedging, which is used frequently in scientific article writing. This paper first has a brief look at the history of the using of hedges in scientific research articles and also at its current research tendency, and then discusses its main pragmatic features from two aspects: 1) how propositions are appropriately conveyed; 2) how the author protects his own face and acquires the ratification from readers to his new ideas at the same time.
