摘    要:用问卷调查和中心组(focusgroups)的方法研究了113名非英语专业二年级本科生英语课堂焦虑的来源。实验发现英语课堂焦虑主要来源于四级考试的压力,面对全班同学用英语发言,自尊(self-esteem)不强和竞争,词汇学习的困难及不能用英语自如的交流。

Abstract:The study explored the sources of English classroom anxiety among Chinesecollege non-English majors. Atotal of 113 second-year students in a college in Hunanparticipated in the present study. Instruments employed were the modified Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) (Horwitz et al, 1986) and focus group. Five sources of anxiety were identified: the pressure of CET-4, speaking in front of the class, low self-esteem and competitiveness, the difficulty of vocabulary learning and the frustration of beingunable to communicate effectively.
