Linking theoretical concepts and models in social work assessment

Abstract

This paper describes a short social work relationship with an elderly couple, whom I shall call Mr. Parks, aged 83, and his wife Mrs Parks aged 80.1 shall explore the process of the relationship, and to do so propose a slightly artificial division of the major theoretical concepts employed at various stages in my work. Within this broad framework more practical, and ethical issues surfaced.

While the emphasis of this paper will be on the process of a growing understanding over four weeks' quite intensive work, I offer a brief description of the Parks and our contacts, so as to concentrate on the most significant aspects of meetings without becoming incomprehensible by leaving out details in the analysis.
