The world polyester industry has a development history of over 50 years, while in China it only began in the mid 1970s. Since then China's polyester industry has been developing considerably. However, in recent years, the high profitability has caused the industry to develop excessively, which breaks the balance between supply and demand and causes the price to drop sharply. China's entry into WTO means a more extensive and in-depth global competition for China's polyester industry which has long been highly protected by the government. Faced with the severe domestic and international situations, the destiny of China's polyester industry has been a matter of great concern.
