On the View of Endowment in Ancient China's Literary Review

The view of endowment, an important content in ancient China's literary review, is put forth by liberators of ancient China considering the peculiarity of the literary writing. This view is based on the view of literary genius and stresses that the innate gift of an artist is the precondition of success in literary writing. In the development of the view, the issue of whether talent and morality are inborn or acquired has been constantly controversial. The traditional Confucianism emphasizes morality instead of talent, canonizes the after-birth training and overlooks the innate talent. With only the moral standard to evaluate the literature, it always jugulates the author's talents and the value of his/her works, which makes it impossible to make an overall evaluation of the author's talents and literary works.
