Historically,China's cities have been knit together with political power ever since they came into being.The cities,large or small,are the locations of local authority of all levels and the headquarters for the rulers of different levels to control a region.Generally speaking,the higher the administrative power a city has,the larger region it can manage and control.In Modern China,cities serving as regional managing centers tend to be more and more powerful over social economic activities with the changes of political and economic environment home and abroad.
