符号·文化与外语教学

摘    要:语言符号是整个文化系统的一个子系统,具有任意性和约定俗成的特性。同时,在不同的文化系统中,所约定俗成的语言符号系统是不一样的。我们学习一门外语,是在本族语和本族文化的基础之上,通过对另一种文化系统下语言符号的掌握.从而能够解决两种不同文化之间的语言交际问题。本文拟就英汉语言符号、非语言符号、以及礼仪符号在其文化背景下的一些差异性进行探讨,并提出对外语教学的指导意义。

Abstract:Arbitrary yet established by usage, linguistic signs constitute one of thesubsystems of the cultural system as a whole, and there are different linguistic systems estab lished in respective cultural settings. While learning a foreign langauge, we are not to throwaway our native language or its culture associated,but have to rely on them to acquire a grad ual command of a target language and its culture so as to be able to remove the language bar riers of communication between the two different cultures. Thus, this paper will mainlyprobe into the differences in linguistic signs, non-verbal signs and greeting behaviors be tween Chinese and English cultural settings for the guidance of our foreign language teach ing.
