| Abstract: | As one basic grammatical phenomenon,noun-to-verb conversion reflects human being's metonymic mode of thinking.Based on conceptual metonymy,this paper studies the conversion of English animal nouns to verbs and its rhetorical effect.This study is conducive to the revelation of the cognitive mechanism of noun-to-verb conversions and provides a new perspective of further exploring the cognitive motivation of lexical conversions. |
