章太炎与辛亥革命刍论

章太炎是中国近代史上一位杰出的革命家和宣传家 ,以往史学界因其所谓“革命军起、革命党消”、“反孙”、“拥袁”、“反对代议制”等问题 ,几乎一致认为辛亥革命前后章氏由进步转向倒退 ,由革命转向反动。我们认为这一结论有偏颇之处 ,应当把章氏的主张与活动放在当时的时代条件下 ,通过比较他与本阶级其他成员的思想与活动 ,方能得出符合史实的结论

An Opinion on Zhang Taiyan and the Xinhai Revolution

Zhang Taiyan was an outstanding revolutionary and propagandist in the Chinese modern history. The historiographical circles used to think that Zhang changed from a progressive to a retrogressive man, and from a revolutionary to a counter-revolutionary during the Xinhai Revolution because he advocated such things as, "disbanding the revolutionary party when the revolution army rises", "anti-Sun Yat-sen", "supporting Yuan Shikai" and "being against representative system". In our opinion, this conclusion is biased. We must reconsider his positions and activities under the particular circumstances he was in. Only by comparing his positions and activities with those of others from his own class can we reach a conclusion that accords with the historical fact.
