Abstract:A brief review of the past 20 years' nutritional research on threonine is given here, including its role in pigs' metabolism, its biological value, pigs' optimum and maximum requirements for it, disease caused by its deficiency, the amount of its supplementation in low-protein diets and its immunological function in pigs.Based on this, the article explores the areas in which follow-up research is to be carried out, and also discussed the potential application of threonine.
