17世纪中叶清军入关、定都北京之际,"满族"就已经成为一个"都市民族"。这种状况延续了三百年,至少到1949年前后,尽管历经沧桑,他们大多并没有回到农村。然而到了20世纪50年代进行少数民族社会历史调查的时候,这个调查对象不是选在城市,反而是在农村,不是在北京,反而是在东北。而近年满族人口的迅增,则又从另一个角度促使人们认真思考当今满族共同体对传统的重构问题。
