从强势模因和弱势模因角度看翻译策略

在信息全球化和经济一体化的今天,全球文化日益融合。翻译作为跨文化交际的桥梁,不仅要传递语言信息,还要传递文化信息。从一个全新的角度将翻译的过程定义为模因变体的过程,将目的语模因定义为"变体模因",通过分析得出"变体模因"也存在强势模因和弱势模因,并对"变体模因"中的强势模因给予全新的定义。然后,从强势模因和弱势模因的角度探讨了在翻译中如何有效地使用异化和归化翻译方法。经过大量例证分析得出在翻译过程中如果通过异化得到的"变体模因"为强势模因则首先考虑采用异化翻译方法,如果为弱势模因则要采用归化翻译方法或异化和归化相结合的方法。

Analyzing Alienation and Domestication Based on Strong Meme and Weak Meme

With the development of globalization, translation builds a bridge between cross cultural communication, which conveys not only language information, but also culture information. This paper defines translation process as the process of meme mutation, and it defines target language meme as mutation meme which is composed of strong meme and weak meme. The strong meme in mutation meme is different from ordinary one. Then it analyzes how to employ alienation and domestication based on strong meme and weak meme. A large body of examples indicates that the translator should first employ alienation as long as the mutation meme obtained with alienation is strong meme; otherwise domestication is preferred.
