Establishing a virtual credit system--Functions of digital certificate in the advancement of information technology

This article discusses theories and functions of digital certificate and analyses current situations and functions of certification authority. It argues that the primary advantage of digital certificate based on PKI system of public key lies in the credit system established within the virtual reality world of internet. Such a system will dramatically enhance the functionality of a wide range of internet services, including e - commerce and e - administration. The articles envisages a huge potential for the government in the use of this system based on the establishment of a nation - wide, unified, authoritative and internationally recognised credit system.
