汉语拼音虽在普及和推广普通话等方面起到了巨大的作用 ,但汉字拼音化成效却不大。这不能不说是与纯拼音文字不适应汉语特点有关。相反 ,汉字的常用字高度集中 ,生命力极强 ,能灵活组装以最简明的方式表达日新月异的词汇发展 ,这些优势是拼音文字无法企及的 ,所以 ,汉字改革继续朝着表意文字方向发展才是适合中国国情的

On the Rationality of Chinese as An Ideographic Writing System

Chinese phonetic alphabet plays a key role in popularizing putonghua but is not effective in transli terating Chinese characters into alphabetic writing, which attests to the fact that pure alphabetic writing does not apply to Chinese language. Rather, the paper argues that frequently-used Chinese characters are highly concentrated, have strong vitality and can be flexibly formed to express new things and ideas in simple terms. These advantages overshadow alphabetic writing system. Therefore, the paper argues that the reform of Chinese characters should be oriented to ideographic writing to conform to the situations in China.
