语境视角下流行语“山寨”的英译

＂山寨＂是2008年度热词之一,使用频率高、指称范围广。通过对＂山寨＂语境内涵进行分析,并对五个具代表性的＂山寨＂族词进行探讨和试译,提出＂山寨＂语义是多层面的;英译＂山寨＂应根据语境选择合适的词,而不能一概用shanzhai来表达。

On the Translation of Catchword "Shanzhai"

Due to its frequency in usage and its scope in reference in various contexts,Shanzhai became one of the most popular catchwords in 2008. By analyzing its connotations in social contexts and inquiring the rendering into Chinese the five representative compound words of shanzhai,this paper argues that the meanings of shanzhai are multi - faceted,and that the translation of shanzhai should be focused on choosing the right word in the line with a specific context instead of using shanzhai without exception.
