在中国封建社会中,科举考试是一项集多种功能于一身的重要制度,它考选的是儒家绅士和官员人才,维系着中国传统社会的运转.19世纪中叶以后,由于执政者的因循守旧,科举考试的重道轻技、重文轻武逐渐暴露出其选拔和培养人才的单一性和滞后性,不能适应社会日益多样化的人才需求,最终被当作阻碍教育和社会发展的障碍而废除.当代考试与科举考试有着渊源继承关系,扬考试之长避考试之短应以科举考试为鉴.
