Abstract:Can pollution prevention (P2) management practices result in lower premiums paid for business insurance? In theory, P2 activities on the part of the insured can reduce the risk of pollution-related claims—but this depends on a competetive insurance market. What follows is an examination of two forms of business insurance—environmental insurance and worker's compensation insurance— and some cases where lower costs were realized.
