荀子的荣辱观及其现代启示

Xunzi's Concept of Honor and Its Implications

Xunzi,a great thinker,had formed a comprehensive and systematic explanation about his concept of honor in Pre-Qin Dynasty.The concept of honor mainly includes two aspects,namely,honor and disgrace.Xunzi also pointed out that one typical nature of human being is preferring honor to disgrace,he thinks that the difference between gentlemen and villains lies in their different attitudes on it and ways of getting it.In order to achieve correct concept of honor,we should behave according to etiquette,respect teachers,act as a role model for good deeds,protect environment,etc.In modern society,the concept of honor has many implications for ideological and moral construction of a harmonious society and maintaining the socialist market economic order.
