浅谈双语词典中英语成语的翻译

英语成语作为英语的精华,往往蕴涵丰富的喻意,而对文化信息和比喻的处理成了翻译中的棘手问题。双语词典中的成语翻译应尽可能提供插入性对应词,以利于产出。直译法、套用法、替代法、意译法和移植法是五种常见的翻译法,成语翻译中应遵循求同存异的原则。套用法和替代法作为求同存异的具体表现,既有助于读者理解原语成语,更有利于产出,应该享有该有的地位。

Analysis of English idiom translation in bilingual dictionaries.

ldioms are the essence of a language,which is often manifested in various metaphors.This unique characteristic tums out to be the tough problem in translation in bilingual dictionaries.Regarded as a tool to gain semantic,syntactical and pragmatic information,bilingual dictionaries should aim at providing insertible equivalent so as to facilitate production activities like writing and translation.Based on the analysis of metaphors embraced in English idioms,this paper draws upon five common translation methods in translation:literal translation,corresponding,institution,and borrowing.Meanwhile,it suggests adopting the principle of seeking common ground while putting aside differences in english idiom translation.therefore,corresponding and substitution,the best representatives of theprinciple,should have its proper place in translation,in that they not only facilitate understanding,but also production.
