| Abstract: | Based on the works of William Faulkner,the author observes the tragic image of Faulkner's female characters that as the weak of Southern society,most of them are twisted,degraded or even destroyed and comes to the conclusion that the root of women's tragic fate is the brutality and cruelty of Southern tradition: the lady-making society,male Chauvinism,racial discrimination and Puritan tradition. |
