从语步结构与动词的及物性过程看中外语言学类期刊摘要中的语言

综合Swales的体裁分析和Halliday及Martinez功能语言学中动词的及物性过程(Transitivity Processes)研究,从宏观和微观上对64篇中外语言学领域类学术期刊摘要进行对比分析.研究发现:(1)文化差异会对摘要的写作产生重要的潜在影响;(2)对研究方法的了解程度直接影响摘要写作;(3)中英期刊摘要在语步的分布和选词上有较大的不同.提出中国学者应注意摘要写作,规范学术摘要写作,和国际接轨.

Genre and Transitivity Processes Analysis in TESOL Journal Abstracts

This paper presents a comparative abstract analysis of international and Chinese TESOL journal abstracts using Swales'(1981,1990) move structure model,and Halliday(1985) and Martinez'(2001) Transitivity Processes in Systemic Function Linguistics.64 abstracts in total were selected from four international journals and four Chinese journals in 2003.The study found that(1) the cultural influence affects journal article abstract writing and this can be found in Chinese journals in which more background information is in Move 1 than in international journals;(2) The fact that abstracts in international journals had higher percentages in Move 2 and Move 3 than those in Chinese journals shows The Chinese authors' inexperience in research methods;and(3) the distribution of Transitivity Processes in the journal abstract moves showed not only a relationship between the move structure and their functions and the language,but also the different distributions between the two sets of journals.The analysis suggests the need for TESOL practitioners to consider these factors in preparing journal article abstracts.
