Aesthetics of the century rose and developed together with modern Chinese Enlightenment. It was subject to the influences of Western Enlightenment theories and was at the same time transforming traditional Chinese aesthetics, prompting the emergence of a large group of masters of aesthetics like Liang Qi-chao, Lu Xun, Wang Guo-wei, Zhong Bai-hua, and Zhu Guang-qian, etc. They integrated aesthetic construction and the task of reforming national character and molding sound personality.
