表象·语象·意象——论文学形象的呈现机制

“形象”是对应于文学感性内容的整体性概念。所有的文学形象都要凭借表象来实现。文学形象又有语象和意象之分。语象是语言级的形象 ,它依靠语词的指物和描述的功能 ,通过与表象的直接对位来实现。意象是“立象以尽意”的形象 ,以象征、隐喻、神话启喻为基本活动方式来承载或破译文化密码 ,是“不外于言亦不尽于言”的形象。在文学活动中 ,表象、语象、意象的呈现都有一定的随机性。

Presentation, Verbal Images and Conceptional Images: Production of Literary Images

The present paper tries to make a distinction between p resentation, verbal images and conceptional images , the three concepts that are closely related to literary images. Presentation refers to the image of a physical object preserved in the memory by which to produce literary images.A verbal image means an image created by words. A conceptional image signifies an image with which to carry or decode cultural ciphers so as to enrich the meaning of simple words. Readers of literary works, on the other hand, are likely to produce these images in their minds at random, each forming an image of his own.(translated by Wang)
