Current Situations of College English Teaching and Countermeasures for Its Educational Reform

There exist such problems on the current college English teaching as outmoded modes, unitary methods, rigid content and outdated concepts, which has resulted in the cost of a great deal of teaching periods and a large number of teachers. However, it has achieved little succuss and confronted the awkward situation. College English teaching reform should inherit the excellent traditions which are brought about in Chinese foreign language teaching for such a long time. Furthermore, it should update teaching ideas, optimize teaching structure and enrich teaching content. Thus, it can adapt to new developments and requirements of society and train the really qualified personnel.
