论两湖早期的新文化运动

中国文化的现代转型是一项迄今为止仍在行进中的事业，回溯本世纪初的早期新文化运动，自应有它的学术价值和现实意义。两湖地区的新文化人曾首举“打倒孔家店”的旗号，在文化心理的层面上树立了可贵的批判精神；他们对中西文化的抉择和中国新文化的建设有过较好的辨析，并以新社团为中介体，将个人的思考与社会改造联系起来，为“五四”时期新观念的传播和新文化运动的深入提供了区域性的文化环境。

Early New-CulturalMovement

Chinese contemporary cultural conversion is a task which is still been undertaking now. The look back upon the new-cultural movement early this century has it own academic and practical significance. For the first time in history of China, the intellectuals in Lianghu area (Hu'nan and Hubei Province) raised the banner of "Down with the Confucianism", which set up a critical spirit. They made a very good comparison between Western and Eastern culture and choose to set up new cultural system of China. They used their leagues as medium, to connect their thinking with social reform. They provided a cultural environment for the spreading of new thoughts from "The Fourth in May" and the deepening of the new-cultural movement.
